Spring is in the Air

September marks the beginning of spring down here in the Cape and although it still can be a little chilly it is the perfect time to prep the garden.

Arbour week is celebrated the first week in September and with that in mind this is the perfect time to plant certain veggies and herbs like:

  • Green Pepper
  • Egg Plant
  • Cellery
  • Corn
  • Melon
  • Basil
  • Parsnip
  • Parsley
  • Tomatoes

It’s a good time to also plant dahlia bulbs and sow seeds for cucumber, lettuce and potatoes and if you want a sea of spring colour plant indigenous flowing plants now as well.

It is also the time to ensure that your garden is receiving the best nutrients, and if unsure speak to your local plant/gardening centre or landscaper for the best advice on what to feed your garden and have a  beautiful summer garden this year.
